Who is Techtir?
Bond-007, Byte, DMC and Watty (aka EI9FEB) formerly involved with Irish Cable and Digital Guide (ICDG) and posting on Boards.ie since 2001 when ICDG moved and became a Hosted Forum there.

Other points
Techtir or TechTír is pronounced Tech Tear, sort of suggesting Technology Land/Country in Gaelic. It’s a registered Trader in Ireland. We also have techtir.com as well as techtir.ie. The Domain Alias techtir.ie was added 16:40 7th October 2009 to techtir.com which was used some weeks previously for prototyping. Before you contact us, yes we know the Proper Irish is Tír na Teicneolaíocht, but Techtir “works” better as an internet name :)

This Portal, while implemented with Wordpress, is not intended for Blogging. Most “posts” are actually refreshed automatically with Forum content. Thus Comments and Registration (for Wordpress) is disabled. Register on the Forums here to Comment!

Compared with “out of the box” vBulletin (or boards.ie) we have added a special section for Articles and changed “Social Groups” to Tech Info Categories. This will reduce the need for “Stickies”. We have copied most of ICDG Wiki into it. There is much more difference between Subscribers and Members too. We have added Table, Box and Folding Header BB Code Features to make it easier to structure Technical information.
