There are two multiplex networks in Northern Ireland.
* BBC National Multiplex, Channel 12B
* Score Digital Northern Ireland, Channel 12D
Further expansion of networks in Northern Ireland is currently restricted with the Irish Republic continuing to use VHF Band III for analogue television.
The BBC were the first to set up a DAB transmitter in Northern Ireland in 1999 at Divis Mountain, but Score Digital NI were the first to give coverage that extended across much of Northern Ireland. Their network came on in early September 2001. During 2005 the BBC opened up new DAB transmitters in the west to expand their coverage.
