Last week (Friday 13th August 2010) The Owners of Techtír met and decided:

• Renew the Domain names
• Renew Site Hosting with Digiweb
• No Google Adverts
• Income from Google Adverts in the past and Subscriptions received to be held for contingency fund. On going costs for the coming year to be paid by fresh contributions by the owners.
• Continue using Drupal rather than renewal of vBulletin licence. (We initially used vBulletin with a Wordpress front page that was not open to users).

So for the past year and next year Techtír has been/will be wholly funded by  Bond-007 (PJ), Byte (Will), DMC (Damien)  and Watty (Mike), the site founder/owners.

While the customised version of vBulletin used by boards.ie is very good, it's for forum use only. For Techtír having good software for Blogging, Articles/Magasines and Forum discussion is important. Also we don't have the resources to customise and support vBulletin, apart from the cost issues.

All Techtír users are welcome to contribute Blog Posts, Articles, Forum posts and comments on these on any Technology related subject.
